FHSU business students receive recognition and scholarships at conference

Two current Fort Hays State University business students, Felix Albl and Tory Arnberger, and two business education alumni Jessica Thompson and Shanna Zimmerman received recognition at the Kansas Business Education Association’s fall conference while another student, Brittany Ballou received a $500 scholarship.

Ballou, a senior at FHSU from Hastings, Neb. received the $500 scholarship from the KBEA’s board of directors at the conference held in late October.

Albl, a Junior from Prairie Village in the FHSU business education program, issued greetings on behalf of Kansas Collegiate DECA. Arnberger, a senior from Great Bend spoke on behalf of Future Business Leaders of America and Phi Beta Lambda.

One of the Alumni Students, Thompson from Overland Park, was recognized as the Rookie Teacher of the Year. Zimmerman, also Alumni and a Hays native was recognized as the Kansas Business Teacher of the year.

“We are extremely proud of all five of these individuals,” said Scott R. Jones, instructor of management and marketing. “They help put business education and the College of Business and Entrepreneurship on the radar of our high school business teachers across Kansas.” said Jones.
