Lachheb serves IHAE for home country

Lachheb, AhmedAhmed Lachheb, instructional technology support specialist for the Center for Teaching Excellence and Learning Technologies at Fort Hays State University, was honored to serve as a voting bureau member in Washington D.C. with the Independent Higher Authority for Elections for his home country, Tunisia, for the first parliamentary elections in the post revolution era of Tunisia.

“The honor bestowed on each of our family members, like Ahmed, reflects on our entire University and showcases the fact that Fort Hays State is indeed where the bright minds are,” said President Mirta Martin. “We are indeed the destination of choice because of our people of distinction. No matter how great our facilities may be, higher ed is still all about people. Our students come because of each of you.”

Lachheb was selected, along with three others from the D.C. area, to supervise the polls. He was asked by the Independent Higher Authority for Elections for Tunisia, a unit in charge of election procedures after 2011, to assist with the organization of the polling center.

“This was an honor for Ahmed but, as a colleague, I want to recognize his commitment to serve his country,” said Deana King, Faculty Development Coordinator for CTELT. “His dedication is evident in the hours he served at the polls.”
