The second set of NCAA regional rankings for men’s soccer were released on Wednesday. Fort Hays State University remained No. 2 in the Central Region, behind Northeastern State.
The Tigers and RiverHawks have played twice this season, with the Tigers dropping a 2-1 contest earlier this season in Tahlequah, Okla. before the two teams played to a 1-1 draw last Sunday in Hays. Both FHSU and NSU have clinched bids to the Mid America Intercollegiate Athletics Association Championships, held Nov. 6-8 in Olathe, Kan.
Lindenwood and Upper Iowa fill out the remaining two spots in the regional rankings. The top two teams in the Central Region will advance to the NCAA Super Regionals, set to begin Nov. 20.
FHSU has appeared in two consecutive NCAA Tournaments, reaching the semifinals of the NCAA Super Regionals in both years. The Tigers are 11-3-2 overall this season, unbeaten in their previous 10 matches, including a stretch of nine straight wins. The squad closes out the regular season this weekend at UIU on Thursday and against West Texas A&M for Senior Day on Sunday. A complete preview of this weekend’s action is available here.
