On Saturday night a report was sent out to alert students and faculty an assault took place in the Lewis Field Stadium parking lot after the homecoming football game.
The report was sent out via text, invoice and email through FHSU ALERTS saying:

FHSU police are investigating a report of an assault at 8:40 p.m. on 10/11/2014 in Lewis Field Stadium parking lot. Victim described assailant as white male, 19 to 21, shaggy brown hair, gray Coors Light shirt, blue jeans, boots. Police are in area. If you have any info call 911.
A message was sent out Monday morning from University Relations providing more information on the case.

Ed Howell, chief of police at Fort Hays State University, said university police are investigating a report of a battery that occurred in the Lewis Field Stadium parking lot around 8:40 p.m. on Saturday.
The 18-year-old female victim reported she was grabbed by an unknown white male and pushed up against a vehicle. No injuries were sustained by the victim and no medical attention was needed.
The victim described the assailant as very intoxicated, 19 to 21 years of age, approximately 6 feet in height with shaggy brown hair, wearing a gray Coors Light t-shirt, blue jeans and boots.

Chief Howell advises that it is always best to follow these safety tips:
· Be aware of your surroundings and others in the area.
· Have your cell phone at the ready and call 911 if you feel that you are in danger.
· Walk with others when possible.
· Advise others as to where you are going and when you expect to return.
· Report any suspicious behavior.
