Tebo Library and Hays Public Library hosted Bookish Craft Night on Wednesday, where community members could be creative with a variety of reading-themed crafts. The event gave attendees the opportunity to craft origami, press book bag prints, make Scrabble bookmarks, color pages, and bedazzle bookmarks.

HPL Adult Services Librarian Jessica Shields said that the purpose was to give people something fun and relaxing to do with others in the community.
“Sometimes we like to throw in something fun and relaxing, especially towards the end of the semester,” Shields said.
People had the opportunity to try different crafts and activities, or even make their own inspired designs. Brenna Windholz, a young girl who attended the event, shared that her favorite parts were making a heart-shaped envelope and trying all the different crafts. Throughout the evening, Windholz made a total of 7 different crafts.
For FHSU freshman Giselle Garcia, the event was not only a time to relax, but also a chance to spend time with friends while trying something new.
“I had such a fun time creating and doing new crafts with my friends,” Garcia said.
Shields and Tebo Library Engagement Specialist Anna Towns expressed that this event is one of several activities planned for the community throughout the year. Future events will give people more opportunities to come together, try new activities, and enjoy time away from their everyday schedules.
