{"id":97004,"date":"2026-04-24T08:41:57","date_gmt":"2026-04-24T13:41:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tigermedianet.com\/?p=97004"},"modified":"2026-04-24T08:41:59","modified_gmt":"2026-04-24T13:41:59","slug":"sga-hears-several-new-bills","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tigermedianet.com\/?p=97004","title":{"rendered":"SGA hears several new bills"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>By ABIGAIL SHEARER<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Tiger Media Network<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Student Government Association meeting conducted regular business Thursday night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>New business&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Bill No. 26.S.148 proposes the Associated General Contractors line item change that $582.40 be moved from the line item \u201cConference Airfare\u201d to $298.44 for the line item \u201cConference Hotel,\u201d $43.24 for the line item \u201cConference Mileage,\u201d and $240.72 for the creation of a new line item \u201cConference Car Rental.\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bill No. 26.S.149 proposes the Student Government Association\u2019s allocations distribution procedure changes from Hotel: $100 from Appendix B of the Student Government Association Funding Guide for the year 2026-2027 and replacing it with: Hotel: $120<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bill No. 26.S.150 proposes the\u00a0 Student Government Association\u2019s allocations distribution procedure changes from $175 from Appendix B of the Student Government Association Funding Guide for the year 2026-2027 and replacing it with:Airfare: $200<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bill No. 26.S.151 proposes the\u00a0 Student Government Association\u2019s allocations distribution procedure changes from Registration: 25% from Appendix B of the Student Government Association Funding Guide for the year 2026-2027 and replacing it with:Registration: 30%<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bill No. 26.S.152 proposes the\u00a0 Student Government Association\u2019s allocations distribution procedure changes from Speakers: 20% from Appendix B of the Student Government Association Funding Guide for the year 2026-2027 and replacing it with:Speakers: 30%<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bill No. 26.S.153\u00a0 proposes the Student Government Association\u2019s allocations distribution procedure, adding a new section preceding the section \u2018Trips\u2019 in Appendix B of the Student Government Association Funding Guide for the year 2026-2027. The addition should read as follows: <strong>Allocations Entity Cap Limit<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>No organization receiving allocations shall receive more than 8% of the allocations fund pool for any fiscal year.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Bill No. 26.S.154 proposes the Student Government Association\u2019s allocations distribution procedure, adding the following section after the \u2018Misuse of SGA Allocated Funds\u2019 description in Appendix B in the Student Government Association Funding Guide for the year 2026-2027. The addition should read as follows: <strong>Allocations Line Item Limit <\/strong>the Student Government Association shall not pass more than three line-item change bills per year at the request of a single entity. Additionally, should a line-item change bill be rejected by the Senate floor, it shall not be brought into consideration of voting in the current form for the rest of the academic year.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Old business<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Two bills passed during second reading:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Bill No. 26.S.146 proposes Aikido Club line item change that $230 from the line item \u201cWorld Master Jui-Jitsu Competition Airfare\u201d and $150 from the line item \u201c2025 AGF Wichita Open Hotel\u201d be moved $230 for the line item \u201cSpring Aikido Seminar (Speaker) Airfare\u201d and $150 for the line item \u201cSpring Aikido Seminar (Speaker) Hotel.\u201d\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bill No. 26.S.147 proposes Delta Zeta line item change that $428 from the line item \u201c2025 National Convention Hotel\u201d and the funds under the line item \u201cEverlasting Conference\u201d be moved to the creation of a new line item \u201cNMALC Registration.\u201d This would move $2,000 in total.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><br><\/strong><strong>Announcements<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>SGA executive staff applications are due by midnight today..\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tiger Trivia will be at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at Arcade 11.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A comedian will be on campus at 7 p.m April 30.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Open forum at 6 p.m. April 30 at Fischli-Wills Center for Student Success Room 104 .<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sip n\u2019 Spill with SGA will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 1 in front of Picken.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Jammin\u2019 into Summer will be from 6 to 9 p.m.May 8 in Gross Memorial Coliseum parking lot.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>SGA will reconvene at 7 p.m. Thursday.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By ABIGAIL SHEARER Tiger Media Network The Student Government Association meeting conducted regular business Thursday night.
