Tiger Media Network<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

After being elected on April 10, President-elect Jackson Sinsel and Vice President-elect Brenna Schwien spoke with Tiger Media Network to outline their vision and plans for the student body moving forward. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vision for the Student Body<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sinsel emphasized the importance of adaptation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe want students to understand that as a university, we are ever-changing, and that we must adjust,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Schwien echoed this sentiment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI want to ensure that our senators feel empowered to ask questions, both during meetings and outside of them,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Intentions for Implementation<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI believe that partnering with student organizations is one of the easiest strategies to implement; this could involve us reaching out to them or vice versa,\u201d Sinsel said.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Keeping Students Informed<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

To enhance communication, Sinsel explained their plans to improve outreach. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFor new senators, we will be moving up orientation, which currently takes place in January,\u201d he said. \u201cAdditionally, I believe our social media platforms are an effective way to keep students informed.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Engagement with the Senate<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Addressing the Senate’s role, Schwien mentioned her commitment to accessibility. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI will hold regular office hours where students can come and talk to me,\u201d she said. \u201cThey can also communicate via email. If I see them in the hallways or on the quad, I\u2019ll make an effort to engage with them to address their concerns professionally.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Collaboration with Senators<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Schwien shared her perspective on collaboration. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cA crucial aspect is letting our senators know they\u2019re welcome to stop by the office and hang out; our office is a great space for that,\u201d she said. \u201cBuilding personal connections is vital, as it fosters an environment where they feel comfortable asking us anything.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Legacy and Goals for the Future<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI want our student government to be more involved with our students and organizations,\u201d Sinsel said. \u201cWe\u2019ve talked about hosting an open forum and collaborating with student organizations to achieve this.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

 \u201cI hope everyone involved in SGA or our executive staff develops a passion for it,\u201d Schwien added. \u201cBeing part of SGA has empowered me to confidently advocate for various issues that matter to our students and our campus.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sinsel and Schwien aim to leave a lasting impact on the student body through their commitment to communication, collaboration, and community engagement. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
