Mike Umscheid, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Dodge City, said the region could see warm winds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c[There will be] a storm system with downslope pattern southwest winds,\u201d he said. \u201cThese southwest winds are going to stay strong, allowing warmth to spread northeast.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, this does not guarantee a warm front for Hays.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe warmer air has to travel across the snowpack, slowing temp increases,\u201d Umscheid said. \u201cThe warm wind is going to make a run at Hays but it might not quite make it.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is a 56% chance of snow Monday night with 1-3 inches of accumulation possible with a 40% chance for 1-3 more inches on Tuesday during the day. The bigger concern is the below-freezing temperatures. Tuesday will drop to -7 degrees Fahrenheit and Wednesday could see a low of -11 degrees.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The aforementioned downslope pattern winds are traveling from California, and must move over the Rockies in order to have any impact upon residents of Kansas.
