The Fort Hays State University Track and Field teams saw their first action of the indoor season at three different meets this weekend (Dec. 6-7). The trip was highlighted by NCAA Division II provisional marks, a meet record, and numerous top-five finishes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Washburn Invitational<\/strong>
Hayden Albright<\/a><\/dfn> had a remarkable showing, claiming first place in the 400m dash with a provisional time of 47.93, which also set a new meet record. Albright added another impressive finish in the 200m dash, placing fourth with a provisional time of 21.39. Jacob Clark<\/a><\/dfn> excelled in the men’s pole vault, securing first place with a clearance of 17-2.75, meeting the provisional standard.
The men’s distance squad also delivered strong performances. Kaiden Esfeld<\/a><\/dfn> took fourth in the mile with a time of 4:26.89, while Emery Wolfe<\/a><\/dfn> claimed fourth in the 1,000m run at 2:36.92.
On the women’s side, Annabeth Baalmann<\/a><\/dfn> led the charge in the pole vault, finishing second with a clearance of 12-11.50, meeting the NCAA provisional standard. Reba Mader<\/a><\/dfn> earned second in the 400m dash, clocking 58.36, while Ashlyn Harbaugh<\/a><\/dfn> placed second in the 5,000m run with a time of 18:08.28.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Boo Rodgers Combined Events<\/strong>
The men’s heptathlon featured a standout performance from Ethan Salmans<\/a><\/dfn>, who placed fifth with 5,056 points, earning a provisional mark. Salmans excelled in the 60m dash (6.99) and 60m hurdles (8.27), finishing second in both events. Nolan Churchman<\/a><\/dfn> was close behind, finishing sixth with 4,989 points and achieving a provisional mark with strong performances in the high jump (6-4.50) and long jump (23-2.00).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Crimson & Gold Invitational<\/strong>
Emily Diercks<\/a><\/dfn> placed second in the women’s 5,000m run with a time of 17:14.41, narrowly missing a provisional mark. On the men’s side, Jaret Pfizenmaier<\/a><\/dfn>finished third in the 5,000m, clocking 14:37.26.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Tigers now turn their attention to their next meet, the UNK Pre-Holiday Classic, scheduled for Friday, December 13 in Kearney, Nebraska.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
