After losing to Northwest Missouri State 2-1 and tying 0-0 with No. 20 Missouri Western<\/a> at home, the Fort Hays State Women\u2019s Soccer team hosted the 2023 NCAA Division II Runner-ups: No. 15 Washburn University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Coming into this matchup, the Washburn Ichabods stood atop of the MIAA with a conference record of 7-0-1. Playing through a number of injuries, the Tigers snapped the Ichabods\u2019 12-game shutout streak by two goals in the back of the net. The Tigers (7-4-4, 4-3-2) defeated the Ichabods (10-3-2, 7-1-1) in their last home game of the regular season by a score of 2-1. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe knew from the beginning that we were just going to be patient and we weren\u2019t going to rush,\u201d said FHSU Head Coach Tyson John. \u201cWhen [Washburn} plays, they like the game to open up. We worked really hard on the time management too, we didn\u2019t want to force stuff to happen, we were going to let the opportunities come to us and make sure that we do something with them when we have them.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
