Since 1902, Fort Hays State University has been a leader in higher education on the High Plains of western Kansas. Each year, thousands of students come to Hays to attend classes for many different reasons. A few Tiger Media Network students share why they chose FHSU and why it is special to them during this Homecoming week.<\/p>\n\n\n

It\u2019s the little things that you learn to appreciate at Fort Hays. It\u2019s the silly things that make you crack a smile randomly in the day. It might not make sense to some, but the campus squirrels are what make me happy at Fort Hays. They are clever creatures, and it is fascinating to watch them go about their day just as we would. It\u2019s the little things.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/li>
The Honors College aims to offer college students academic and personal assistance to achieve their goals. At Tiger Village, students of the Honors College are offered a healthy environment to further their performance in classes and rendezvous with good company. We are like one big happy family.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/li>
On campus, there is no lack of beautiful locations to admire. One may find that they may quickly find their favorite spot. Every week I like to visit that beautiful fountain near Picken Hall. It serves as an oasis, not only to myself, but the flora and fauna that surrounds it. Truly a magical place.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/li>
As a freshman, I quickly found the Fischli-Wills Center for Student Success was the perfect place to study for my classes. I have no trouble sitting down at my favorite spot and knocking out homework in a peaceful and supportive environment.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/li>
I\u2019m a writer, not a fighter. It just so happens that Hammond Hall is the perfect place for me to kick it in gear and get some work done. If I am covering a story, I rush back to Hammond Hall, hop on a computer and make content for everyone to enjoy.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/li>
They say, \u201cStop and smell the roses.\u201d I can\u2019t stress enough the accuracy of this saying. If I were placed in a position to give advice, I would tell students to take a moment in their stressful day to admire their surroundings. Fort Hays has an enchanting campus, filled with all kinds of sights. All you have to do is take a moment to truly appreciate it.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/li>
It is apparent that students have many resources and help at their disposal. That is possibly one of my favorite things about Fort Hays. Everywhere you look, there will always be some kind of advertising, telling you how to access help for anything you can think of. Whether it be academic help, mental\/physical help or even inspiration, FHSU has you covered.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/li><\/ul><\/a><\/a><\/a>
