{"id":78986,"date":"2024-05-08T16:51:39","date_gmt":"2024-05-08T21:51:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tigermedianet.com\/?p=78986"},"modified":"2024-05-08T16:51:42","modified_gmt":"2024-05-08T21:51:42","slug":"brasser-finishes-25th-at-regional","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tigermedianet.com\/?p=78986","title":{"rendered":"Brasser finishes 25th at regional"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>By FHSU SPORTS INFORMATION<br><\/strong>BARTLESVILLE, Okla. &#8211; Fort Hays State&#8217;s\u00a0<dfn><a href=\"http:\/\/fhsuathletics.com\/services\/go.ashx\/62be44ae-20a7-4acc-9d4b-6e5704a0fefb?elinkdata=233259\">Morgan Brasser<\/a><\/dfn>\u00a0tied for 25th place at the 2024 NCAA Division II Women&#8217;s Golf Central Region Championships this week at Hillcrest Country Club, a par-72, 5,921-yard layout.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Brasser opened the week with a round of 6-over 78, sitting in a tie for 19th after 18 holes. She followed that up with back-to-back rounds of 7-over 79 in rounds two and three to finish the week with a three-round total of 20-over 236. Brasser turned in 34 pars across the 54-hole event, tied for seventh-most in the field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Andale, Kan. native wraps up her collegiate career with almost every program record imaginable. She broke the school record for single-season scoring average as a sophomore and subsequently broke that record each of the following seasons, completing her senior campaign with a stroke average of 74.96 in 28 rounds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She played in a school-record 99 rounds in her career, posting a career stroke average of 76.6, which lowered the school record for career stroke average by nearly three strokes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This was Brasser&#8217;s school-record fourth appearance at the Central Regional. She picked up her fourth All-MIAA honor earlier this season (another school record), earning first-team honors for a second-consecutive season after being named honorable mention as a freshman and sophomore. In addition, she was the MIAA Player of the Year in 2022-23 and was a finalist for the MIAA Ken B. Jones Award that year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She posted a school-record 19 rounds at-or-under par, including a school-record eight sub-par rounds and a school-record 11 rounds at even-par. Brasser fired a career-low 69 three times, which is tied for the best round in program history. She is the only player in program history with multiple sub-70 rounds in a career. She tied the school record for top-10 finishes (24) and top-5 finishes (16) while finishing second in school history with six career tournament victories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Henderson State battled back from a five-stroke deficit entering the final round to take the team title with a total score of 30-over 894.
