In the heat of their spring season, the Fort Hays State women\u2019s golf team features only four athletes: Morgan Brasser, Ella Neuhauser, Shauna Lee, and Hayden York. Head Coach Jerol DeBoer and team captain Brasser lead the team. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brasser, the only senior on the roster, has continued to grow her passion and love for the sport of golf from the young age of 10 years old.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI picked up the sport in my backyard of five acres, she said. \u201cI became obsessed with it and would hit anywhere from 100-500 golf balls every day after school.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brasser, who won her third MIAA Athlete of the Week honor last week, may surprise many with her skillset. She has never had a swing coach, is completely self-taught, and relied on her dad for guidance when she started at a young age.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMorgan is the most talented golfer I have seen or coached,\u201d DeBoer, who has coached Brasser since 2020 said. \u201cShe is pretty much self-taught, which is very unusual nowadays.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brasser contributes much of her success to her faith and dedication. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt is hard to pick one specific thing that has led to my successes; it’s rather a combined effort of many factors,\u201d Brasser said. \u201cFirst and foremost, my talent on the golf course and in the classroom comes from above. Without God, none of this would be possible. As my collegiate career rapidly comes to an end, I have discovered more perseverance and dedication within myself to give these last months all of my time and energy, having no regrets when I step off the course for the last time.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
