The Fort Hays State Track and Field team went to three different invites this weekend, including the Texas Relays, WashU Distance Carnival and the Central Nebraska Challenge. The team was able to notch five provisional marks over the three meets along with a school record by pole vaulter\u00a0Annabeth Baalmann<\/a><\/dfn>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Texas Relays<\/strong>
A few members of the team competed at the Texas Relays, notching one provisional mark among Division I competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the women’s 400mH, Taylor Savolt<\/a><\/dfn> secured a commendable 26th place finish with a time of 1:01.11. Her time was good enough for a provisional mark. Maggie Remsberg<\/a><\/dfn> ran the 400-meter hurdles, securing 49th with a time of 1:10.67.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the men’s side, Maayan Paz<\/a><\/dfn> and Ethan Salmans<\/a><\/dfn>represented FHSU in the 400 meter hurdles. Paz claimed 19th place with a time of 55.25 seconds, while Salmans finished 32nd with a time of 56.90 seconds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

WashU Distance Carnival<\/strong>
Some of the Fort Hays State distance runners competed at the WashU Distance Carnival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the men’s 800m, seniors Ethan Lang<\/a><\/dfn> and Trever Medina<\/a><\/dfn> led the charge for FHSU, securing the fourth and sixth positions. Lang finished with a time of 1:51.50, while Medina closely followed with a time of 1:51.93.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the men’s 5,000m, Jaret Pfizenmaier<\/a><\/dfn> led the Tiger pack in 26th place, crossing the line with a time of 14:49.79. Meanwhile in the women’s 5,000m, Madison Sutterfield<\/a><\/dfn> secured 34th with a time of 18:02.66. Faith Little<\/a><\/dfn> finished 23rd in the women’s 1,500m with a time of 4:50.65.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Central Nebraska Challenge<\/strong>
Several members of the team competed at the Central Nebraska Challenge in Kearney.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Annabeth Baalmann<\/a><\/dfn> continued her exceptional sophomore year, breaking the pole vault record she set just last week at the FHSU Spring Invite. Baalmaan finished second with a vault of 12-11.5 feet. Jacob Clark<\/a><\/dfn> soared in the men’s pole vault, clinching the top spot with an impressive mark of 16 feet, 10.75 inches. His remarkable performance not only secured victory but also earned him an NCAA Division II provisional mark.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the men’s 100m, Toby Wahlmeier<\/a><\/dfn> led the charge with an impressive first-place finish, crossing the line in a time of 10.66 seconds. Kenny Fritsch<\/a><\/dfn> and Eddie McVay<\/a><\/dfn>secured the fourth and fifth positions. Wahlmeier continued his dominance on the day, claiming another first-place finish with a remarkable time of 21.15 seconds in the 200m. His time was good enough for a provisional mark and personal best.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the men’s long jump, Keamonie Archie<\/a><\/dfn> topped the field with a jump of 23 fee, 7.25 inches. Kennedy Spaeth<\/a><\/dfn> won the women’s shot put with a throw of 39 feet, 11.25 inches, a new personal best. Liberty Booker<\/a><\/dfn>had a throw of 41 feet, 8.75 inches, good for second place in the Invitational division of the shot put.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jayme Hagerman<\/a><\/dfn> had a third-place finish in the women’s triple jump with a distance of 36 feet, 0.25 inches, a new best for her outdoor season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kinley Brown<\/a><\/dfn> finished third in the 200m, notching a wind-aided personal best. Reba Mader<\/a><\/dfn> led the charge in the women’s 400m, securing victory with a time of 56.58 seconds. Brown finished right behind Mader, notching a personal best in the 400m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Addie Berens<\/a><\/dfn> claimed the top spot in the javelin with a season-best throw of 150 feet and 5 inches. It improved on her NCAA Division II provisional mark.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The teams will travel to Boulder, Colo. next weekend (April 5-6) for the Colorado Invitational.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
