The Roadrunners won all matches contested, moving to 3-8 overall on the season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><dfn><a href=\"http:\/\/fhsuathletics.com\/services\/go.ashx\/9cb7d673-0563-4192-86b7-6273bed2d9da?elinkdata=228410\">Fiorella Mendez<\/a><\/dfn>&nbsp;had the most success for the Tigers in singles play at the No. 5 position. After dropping the first set 6-0, she bounced back to blank her opponent by the same score in the second set. Unfortunately, she came up short in the decisive tiebreak set by a score of 10-4.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In other singles matches,&nbsp;<dfn><a href=\"http:\/\/fhsuathletics.com\/services\/go.ashx\/5a25d34b-0ddd-4466-9ec6-d7e969c16f04?elinkdata=228410\">Yone Pereiro<\/a><\/dfn>&nbsp;(No. 2) scored five points within her match, while&nbsp;<dfn><a href=\"http:\/\/fhsuathletics.com\/services\/go.ashx\/9bf81210-d35d-4044-84e3-e73fed883350?elinkdata=228410\">Grace Unruh<\/a><\/dfn>&nbsp;(No. 3) and&nbsp;<dfn><a href=\"http:\/\/fhsuathletics.com\/services\/go.ashx\/51b9aae3-efd7-41a6-8b27-e0d6b67c794d?elinkdata=228410\">Ines Steeman<\/a><\/dfn>&nbsp;(No. 6) each scored three points within their matches.&nbsp;<dfn><a href=\"http:\/\/fhsuathletics.com\/services\/go.ashx\/48113ba6-6863-4f5a-a2a2-474802ec5203?elinkdata=228410\">Shreethika Vangala<\/a><\/dfn>&nbsp;scored a pair of points in the first set of her match at the No. 1 position.&nbsp;<dfn><a href=\"http:\/\/fhsuathletics.com\/services\/go.ashx\/a2786015-feda-4730-be54-51d9e57033c3?elinkdata=228410\">Bethan Gill<\/a><\/dfn>&nbsp;(No. 4) was unable to generate any points in her match.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The No. 3 team of Gill and Unruh had the closest doubles match, falling 6-4. The No. 1 team of Mendez and Pereiro and No. 2 team of Vangala and Steeman each fell by scores of 6-1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fort Hays State returns to action this coming week at home with a match against Sterling College on Thursday (March 14), set to start at 11 a.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>Saturday<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>PUEBLO, Colo. &#8211; Fort Hays State Tennis improved to 5-2 overall on the season with a 4-3 win over CSU-Pueblo on Saturday afternoon (March 9). The Tigers defeated the Thunderwolves by the same score they did in the fall portion of the season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Tigers won two of the three doubles matches contested. The No. 2 team of&nbsp;<dfn><a href=\"http:\/\/fhsuathletics.com\/services\/go.ashx\/ff51d634-4bb4-4834-8f81-7c9d5c8b3336?elinkdata=228170\">Irina Alfonso<\/a><\/dfn>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<dfn><a href=\"http:\/\/fhsuathletics.com\/services\/go.ashx\/f93a67f8-0257-413a-b73b-c37d5817a3ca?elinkdata=228170\">Ines Latorre<\/a><\/dfn>&nbsp;blanked their opponents 6-0, while the No. 3 team of&nbsp;<dfn><a href=\"http:\/\/fhsuathletics.com\/services\/go.ashx\/5ca8f934-49e6-49b5-9e41-5fd22bcc75d4?elinkdata=228170\">Grace Unruh<\/a><\/dfn>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<dfn><a href=\"http:\/\/fhsuathletics.com\/services\/go.ashx\/70af415a-76ce-4854-a1dc-e3a41b4cbaae?elinkdata=228170\">Bethan Gill<\/a><\/dfn>&nbsp;yielded only one point in a 6-1 victory. The No. 1 team of&nbsp;<dfn><a href=\"http:\/\/fhsuathletics.com\/services\/go.ashx\/7b67d0e4-4ce8-456d-a0d2-d730b00d7f55?elinkdata=228170\">Fiorella Mendez<\/a><\/dfn>and&nbsp;<dfn><a href=\"http:\/\/fhsuathletics.com\/services\/go.ashx\/7c0d9d36-6c42-40d1-9614-9226b8df6379?elinkdata=228170\">Yone Pereiro<\/a><\/dfn>&nbsp;fell 6-2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With a team point in hand, the Tigers needed to a least split singles matches for a win. They did just that, getting victories at the No. 4, 5, and 6 positions all in straight sets. Unruh won at the No. 4 position 6-1, 6-0, while Gill won by the same scores at the No. 5 position. Mendez blanked her opponent at the No. 6 position 6-0, 6-0. Unruh had the clinching point in the match since her result put the Tigers up 4-0 in matches that were complete.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Thunderwolves took the final three singles matches to finish. Alfonso generated five points in her match at the No. 1 position, while Latorre was down a set and defaulted out of her match at the No. 2 position.
