EDMOND, Okla. – The Fort Hays State women’s golf team placed 13th at the Diffee Ford Lincoln Invitational this week (March 4-5) at KickingBird Golf Course, a par-70, 5,821-yard layout.\u00a0Morgan Brasser<\/a><\/dfn>\u00a0finished in a tie for fifth at 8-over through two rounds, tied for the best performance by an MIAA athlete in the field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brasser began the tournament with a 3-over 72 in the first round before rounding out the week with a 6-over 76 for a two-round total of 148. The senior finished the week with six birdies, second-most in the field. Brasser now has a season stroke average of 75.25, a total that would be the best single-season stroke average in program history. This was her fourth top-five finish of the season and the 14th of her career.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hayden York<\/a><\/dfn> turned in rounds of 86 and 84 to finish in a tie for 58th. Shauna Lee<\/a><\/dfn> fired rounds of 89 and 87 to finish in solo 68th place, with Ella Neuhauser<\/a><\/dfn> posting scores of 91 and 88 to finish 73rd.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Southwestern Oklahoma State won the team title at 32-over, placing three Bulldogs in the top four. Oklahoma Christian’s Sofia Benavides was the individual medalist with a two-round score of 2-over 142 (69-73).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fort Hays State will return to action after spring break when the Tigers travel to Bolivar, Mo. for the Midwest Spring Invitational March 18-19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
