FHSU\u2019s Student Government of Association head about several upcoming events at Thursday’s meeting as SGA welcomed a guest speaker from Student Engagement. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Director of Student Engagement Jaden Rahe discussed the Black and Gold Academy, a leadership conference that will take place from 10 am to 4 pm on Saturday in the Memorial Union Ballroom.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe will be giving out 16 scholarships during this event that are going to range from $250 up to $1000,\u201d Rahe said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event will be free for all FHSU students and feature guest speaker, Dr. Chris Luepold, an industrial organization psychologist, along with free meals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rahe also discussed the opportunity for students to volunteer for a paid trip at Habitat for Humanity in Colorado Springs over Spring Break.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Volunteers will assist in constructing a house and help organize a store that provides funding for the organization’s projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIf service is something that calls to your heart, spend your spring break during that with a quick little drive,\u201d Rahe said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students can volunteer by contacting Student Engagement Coordinator Ali Colewell<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rahe also announced another travel-related opportunity, Mountain Movers 2024, a unique leadership experience and overnight retreat to Codell from April 12 to 13.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students must fill out an application<\/a> form by 5 pm on April 3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rahe also discussed the College Cup, a program designed for multiple colleges and students competing against each other, which will be on April 18 at Lewis Field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additional information for all these events can be found at Student Engagement, located on the second floor of the Fischli-Willis Center for Student Success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SGA President Ella Burrows\u2019 executive report highlighted her participation in an Online Student Senate meeting last week.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A key focus of the meeting was enhancing the student experience on Blackboard, particularly addressing concerns about professors copying and pasting course shells from one semester to another with minimal updates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Burrow also said the forum for Spring Elections will be open from March 1 to 17, with the elections scheduled for March 27 and 28, providing students with the chance to secure a spot in the Senate and for current Senators to seek re-election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SGA Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Director Joanna Carrillo addressed working with The American Democracy Project in March to organize an event similar to a poster competition in celebration of Women\u2019s History Month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SGA Vice President Emma Day concluded the meeting by installing two newly appointed senators: Morgan Fischer for Werth College and Star Parham for the College of Health and Behavioral Sciences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
