JOPLIN, Mo. – The Fort Hays State women’s cross country team placed seventh out of 31 teams at the 2023 NCAA Division II Central Region Championships Saturday morning, with a pair of runners earning All-Region Honors.\u00a0Regan Hodsden<\/a><\/dfn>\u00a0was fifth overall, locking in her trip to the DII National Championships for a second-consecutive year, while\u00a0Jaycee Vath<\/a><\/dfn>\u00a0finished 13th to also earn a spot on the All-Region podium.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hodsden picked up All-Region accolades for a second-consecutive year, placing fifth overall with a personal-best time of 20:55.2 after finishing 15th one year ago. Vath added All-Region honors to her trophy case alongside All-MIAA honors earned earlier this season after she completed the six-kilometer track in a personal-best 21:13.4.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Darian Hudgeons<\/a><\/dfn> placed 27th, crossing the line in 21:42.7. Abbye Hudson<\/a><\/dfn> was 93rd overall, traversing the course in 23:00.3, while Hattie Lukert<\/a><\/dfn> rounded out the Tiger top five in 128th with a time of 23:30.2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Winona State ran away with the team title, totaling 52 points after placing five runners inside the top 25, including individual champion Lindsay Cunningham with a time of 19:33.3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Tigers will find out Monday if any other individuals are selected at-large to join Hodsden at the 2023 NCAA Division II National Championships, which will be held on November 18 back at the Tom Rutledge Cross Country Course in Joplin, Mo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Fort Hays State men’s cross country team finished 12th out of 29 schools at the 2023 NCAA Division II Central Region Championships Saturday morning (Nov. 4) at Missouri Southern’s Tom Rutledge Cross Country Course. The Tigers accumulated 350 team points, seventh-best amongst MIAA programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Grant Bradley<\/a><\/dfn> was the top Tiger finisher, placing 32nd in the 10-kilometer race with a time of 31:43.3. Jaret Pfizenmaier<\/a><\/dfn> traversed the course in 32:07.0, good for 49th, while Corbin Ricke<\/a><\/dfn> finished 76th with a time of 32:44.2. Kaiden Esfeld<\/a><\/dfn> was close behind in 78th after crossing the line in 32:45.3, while Noah Morenz<\/a><\/dfn>rounded out the Tiger team scoring in 115th with a time of 33:34.7.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

East Central cruised to the team title, winning by 72 points over second place after placing six runners inside the top 21, including individual champion Peter Kipkemboi with a time of 29:46.9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
