The annual Fall Brawl took place earlier this month at Hy-Vee Arena. Over 1,000 wrestlers competed with high school boys on Saturday and then middle school, elementary, and high school girls competed on Sunday. This was the 15th annual Fall Brawl, and competitors from Kansas, Missouri, Texas, Nebraska, Florida, Pennsylvania, Iowa, Colorado, and Oklahoma were in attendance.\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Senior Trig Tennant, from Valley Center was the first-place finisher at 150lbs. Tennant talked about his first experience at the Fall Brawl and his plans for college next year. \u201cI was glad I had the opportunity to compete this weekend. I wish I would have competed in the past but with the level of competition, this tournament will get me ready for the season,\u201d Tennant said. \u201cI am currently committed to wrestle at the Air Force Academy next season, and I chose the academy because my brother served.\u201d\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Jarred Simma was the champion in the 175 lb weight class. Simma is currently undefeated throughout his high school career and is entering his senior year 157-0. Simma discussed the level of competition he faced and why he chose to be a Husker next year. \u201cThere is no other pre-season tournament in the Kansas City area where you can wrestle the top-level wrestlers in the nation. This is great preparation for the season,” Simma said. “I chose UNL because my father wrestled there, and great things are happening now with the success and the new wrestling room being built.\u201d\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
