Are you, someone you know, or an organization that you are involved in looking for more volunteer activities, hours, or opportunities? Are you ready to give back to the Hays community by simply donating some of your time and\/or natural skills? The Hays Public Library (HPL) will be hosting a Community Volunteer Fair from 3:30-6:30 p.m. on Monday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
For this event, tables will be set up for the participating businesses and organizations in the<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Schmidt Community Commons, which is on the main floor of the library.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hays Public Library Communications Coordinator, Callie Kolacny, said attendees will be able to go from table to table to learn about the different volunteer opportunities offered for individuals to participate within the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt will be a come-and-go event. It is free for the businesses, organizations, and for the attendees,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The following is a list of participating businesses and organizations that guests can expect to interact with at the event:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hays Public Library Kolacny explains why it is important Hays Public Library hosts events like this one by pointing out that volunteers are a very important part of the HPL workforce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWe understand how difficult it can be to connect with the people in the community who want to volunteer,\u201d she said. \u201cIt also can be challenging for volunteers to know where to look and to find the right fit for not only themselves, but for the organization as well.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Kolacny said the library felt like providing an opportunity for both entities – volunteers and organizations – to come together in one location could simplify the process and help make those connections. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThe library is a community space, and we are pleased to be able to host events like this that truly benefit the community,\u201d Kolacny said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Kolacny hopes the time slot for the event allows both full-time workers and students to visit after school and work hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWe hope that having this event from 3:30 \u2013 6:30 pm will allow high school students to stop by after school as well as for adults to visit after work.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Kolacny wants to extend an invitation to anyone and everyone of all ages to attend the event and potentially find their perfect community partner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThrough volunteer work, you can gain a deeper understanding of services available in the community and make worthwhile connections,\u201d she said. \u201cIt also feels good to help others.\u201d <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" BY JESSALYN KIRCHHOFF Are you, someone you know, or an organization that you are involved in looking for more volunteer activities, hours, or opportunities?
