The Black Student Union will be hosting a hair care day on Wednesday in the Cody Commons. This event is meant to teach others how to care for and understand how to treat others’ hair and is an inclusive event for everyone on campus. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
This event is supervised by BSU Vice President Kadrian Ayarza, who also came up with the idea. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe would like to spread more awareness of how to take care of natural hair,\u201d Ayarza said. \u201cAnd to give people the opportunity to learn about different hair types and such.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
An educational event, the Hair Care Day will include staff from the Hays Salon, and will feature a presentation discussing various techniques used to take care of hair. It will also discuss different hair types and how to take care of each individual one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The event will also feature other members of the BSU itself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cEach of our members will have a booth set up,\u201d Ayarza said. \u201cThere, you can each ask them questions about their journey with hair and the products they use. They\u2019ll each have a different subject to present about.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With this event, Ayarza and the Black Student Union hope to create an environment where anybody can feel welcome and learn something. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt\u2019s very inclusive for everybody,\u201d Ayarza said. \u201cAnd everybody can come and learn something new.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Educating people about hair is very important to Ayarza, as she hopes to help others when it comes to learning about how to care for others\u2019 hair. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI\u2019m biracial, and when I was younger, my mother struggled to take care of my hair,\u201d Ayarza said. \u201cI feel like it\u2019s very important how you present yourself and how you feel, so knowing how to take care of your hair and other people\u2019s hair is very important.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
