After voting closed Thursday afternoon, results of the 2023-24 Student Government Association elections were announced at the group\u2019s weekly meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The bill’s purpose was to give the new administration and executive staff more time to meet in person before the summer. Executive staff applications are open now and can be filled out by any current SGA member or any Fort Hays student.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI really encourage all of you guys to apply for an executive position,\u201d said current Legislative Affairs Director Ella Burrows. \u201cIt\u2019s a really great job, and (you should) encourage your constituents and friends to also apply so we have as many options as possible.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Aside from elections, there were only a few other items of interest on Thursday\u2019s agenda. President Ryan Stanley mentioned the upcoming Legislative Coffee at the Hays Public Library twice, stating the importance of students being there to talk with legislators. Currently, the legislature is in the process of deciding the university\u2019s funding for next year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIt\u2019s really important that we have representation there (Saturday),\u201d he said. \u201cWe need people there in Fort Hays shirts asking questions which will be provided by Fort Hays administration.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n The event begins at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday with coffee and other refreshments, and attendees can talk one-on-one with legislators. Then at 8:30, the panel of legislators will answer questions that must be submitted beforehand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cDr. Mason really emphasized the importance that we have people there representing us,\u201d Stanley added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The next SGA meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. April 6 in the Black and Gold Room.
