JOPLIN, Mo. – Two runners from the Fort Hays State women’s cross country team earned All-MIAA honors Saturday morning (Nov. 5) at the 2022 MIAA Championships, helping the Tigers to a fifth-place finish out of the 13 league teams. Missouri Southern hosted this year’s six-kilometer championship race at the Tom Rutledge Cross Country Course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Regan Hodsden<\/a><\/dfn> led the Tigers to the line for the third race in a row, finishing sixth in 21:14.8 to collect All-MIAA status. Joining Hodsden on the all-conference podium was teammate Darian Hudgeons<\/a><\/dfn>, who placed 12th with a time of 21:47.0.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jaycee Vath<\/a><\/dfn> finished in 30th place after traversing the course in 22:25.9, while Elizabeth Fender<\/a><\/dfn> was less than 10 seconds behind in 37th with a time of 22:34.0. Brooke Navarro<\/a><\/dfn> rounded out the Tiger top five in 50th after crossing the line in 23:05.4.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Tigers will return to Joplin in two weeks (Nov. 19) for the NCAA Division II Central Region Championships, with the women’s 6K commencing at 11:15 a.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Men<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Fort Hays State men’s cross country team placed 10th at Saturday’s MIAA Championships, hosted by Missouri Southern State at the Tom Rutledge Cross Country Course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jaret Pfizenmaier<\/a><\/dfn> led the team to the finish line for the second race in a row, placing 30th with a time of 25:06.6. Trever Medina<\/a><\/dfn> navigated the eight-kilometer course in 25:58.0, finishing 62nd, with Aaron Mangan<\/a><\/dfn> (25:59.5) just behind in 63rd. Erick Estrada<\/a><\/dfn> crossed the line in 26:06.4, good for 67th place, with Javyn Contreras<\/a><\/dfn> rounding out the FHSU top five in 74th with a time of 26:14.2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Missouri Southern won the team title with 41 points thanks to all five runners earning All-MIAA honors, including Gidieon Kimutai (23:38.2) and Ryan Riddle (23:47.9) going 1-2 individually.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Tigers will return to Joplin in two weeks (Nov. 19) for the NCAA Division II Central Region Championships, with the men’s 10K beginning at 10 a.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
