After struggling at home so far this season, going 0-3 inside Lewis Field Stadium, the Fort Hays State football team added a second tally to the season win column, doing so in front of their home fans on Saturday. FHSU (2-6) used a 10-point fourth quarter to push past the Central Missouri Mules (2-6) 27-14. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe had some great things happen today. We had players throughout the day show up to play and it was great to see the team play well,\u201d FHSU Head Coach Chris Brown said. \u201cThere are some things that still need to be worked on this week but it was good to come out and get the win.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

To start the game, the Mules and the Tigers went back and forth for the position but never earned enough yards to get into field goal range and ended the first quarter tied 0-0. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the second quarter, the Mules were the first team to strike as Arkell Smith caught a forty-yard pass that stretched for the touchdown. FHSU struck right after the Mules an Emanuel Aguilar field goal. The Tigers stopped the Mules on their next defensive position and gave the Tigers a good field position that turned into a Manny Ramsey touchdown. The fade route gave Ramsey his 21st career receiving touchdown that ties Layne Beiberle at third all-time in the Tiger’s football history. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Tigers led at halftime 10-7 and did not let the Mules take the lead back. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the third quarter, the Tigers struck again with a Cale Cormaney receiving touchdown from Jack Dawson. UCM returned on their next offensive drive to score with a Corbin Grant receiving touchdown to pull within three, 17-14. However, Adrian Soto punched in a fourth-quarter touchdown and Aguilar added a second field goal for good measure to put the Mules away and secure FHSU\u2019s second win of the season. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhen everyone does their job on the field it makes it easy as an offense to get the win, we just need to keep working and grinding out these next couple of weeks,\u201d Dawson said<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Tigers are on the road visiting in-state rival Emporia State on Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
