The Fort Hays State women’s golf team sits in ninth place out of 12 teams after round one of the FHSU Lady Tiger Classic, held at Smoky Hill Country Club. Junior Morgan Brasser<\/a><\/dfn> holds a two-stroke lead going into the final round following an even-par 72 on Monday (Sept. 26). The 70 players in the field are playing the course as a par-72, 5,864-yard layout.

The Tigers combined for eight birdies on the day, third-most in the field.

Brasser posted a two-over 39 on the front nine and added two more bogeys early on the back side before finishing the round with three birdies over her final five holes, including a near hole-in-one on No. 18. The Andale, Kan. native led the field with five birdies.

Lexie Ridder<\/a><\/dfn> (T-33rd) turned in an 11-over 83 to rank second on the team while playing as an individual, while Shauna Lee<\/a><\/dfn> and Aliyah North<\/a><\/dfn> are tied for 38th following rounds of 12-over 84. Lee improved her score by 14 shots from the front nine to the back nine, recording one of just par-or-better sides for the entire field with a back-nine 35.

Ella McKee<\/a><\/dfn> is in a tie for 44th after a 13-over 85, including a birdie on the par-5 second hole, while Hannah Nimmo<\/a><\/dfn> and Kerrigan Rudolph<\/a><\/dfn> are tied for 57th at 16-over 88.

The field average finished just under 84 across the 70 completed rounds, with all 18 holes playing at an over-par difficulty on the day.

Central Missouri leads the team leaderboard after a 15-over 303, including five individual scores between 75 and 77.

The second and final round will begin with tee times off holes one and 10 beginning at 9 a.m. on Tuesday (Sept. 27).
