FHSU Men’s Soccer rallied to defeat CSU-Pueblo 2-1 on Thursday (Aug. 25) in the 2022 season opener in Hays. The 23rd-ranked ThunderWolves took the lead early in the second half, but the 7th-ranked Tigers fought back with two goals in the final 19 minutes of play. The Tigers start the season 1-0, while theThunderWolves fall to 0-1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In\nthe first half, CSU-Pueblo was on the attack taking six shots and putting three\non target. The Tigers were able to fend off the ThunderWolves as the match\nremained scoreless at the half. CSU-Pueblo struck first as Caio Oliveira headed\nin a well-placed crossing pass from Reggie Nicolas in the 52nd<\/sup>\nminute. But Tigers found the equalizer in the 71st<\/sup> minute as Callum\nFrogson<\/a> headed in a corner from Inigo\nJimenez<\/a> for the first goal of his collegiate career.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The\nThunderWolves looked to regain the lead when a foul inside the box brought them\na penalty opportunity with just over seven minutes remaining, but Tiger keeper Kieran\nBrown<\/a> made a massive diving save to keep the match level. The\nTigers used the momentum to fuel their attack and then Blake\nArndt<\/a> was fouled just feet away from the goal to gain a\npenalty kick opportunity. Arndt blasted his shot an unmanned area of the goal\nin the 88th<\/sup> minute, putting FHSU up 2-1.
