{"id":66541,"date":"2022-08-09T14:56:17","date_gmt":"2022-08-09T19:56:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tigermedianet.com\/?p=66541"},"modified":"2022-08-09T14:56:20","modified_gmt":"2022-08-09T19:56:20","slug":"federal-grant-drives-fhsu-de-escalation-training-center-expansion","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tigermedianet.com\/?p=66541","title":{"rendered":"Federal grant drives FHSU de-escalation training center expansion"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>By UNIVERSITY COMMUNICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fort Hays State University\u2019s Department of Criminal Justice was recently awarded an additional $1.5 million to expand operations of the Central Region De-escalation Training Center. This marks the department&#8217;s second major federal grant award over the past year. In October 2021, the program was awarded an initial $1.25 million grant. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>FHSU hosts one of several regional training centers within a\nnational network under the direction of the National De-escalation Training\nCenter (NDTC). The de-escalation training model used by center instructors\nexpands the law enforcement officers\u2019 ability to interact with the people they\nserve and defuse potential situations that otherwise may escalate into the use\nof force.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The most recent grant funding source comes from the Bureau of\nJustice Assistance (BJA) under the Byrne Discretionary Community Project Grants\nprogram.
