Alyssa McCormack, the lead event planner for the Empower Women Event on Tuesday, said that her goal for this event was to have activities that make women feel empowered and educate others about Women\u2019s History Month.

The Empower Women Event consisted of flyers about inspirational women in history, creating your own personal tote bag, female-positive stickers, bracelets, and broken glass keychains.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The broken glass key chains acted as an ode to this year\u2019s theme for International Women\u2019s Day, #BreakTheBias – a campaign that works towards breaking out of stereotypes and surpassing the limits that are often set on women by society. These keychains were hand-made by the Empowering Women Team, consisting of McCormack, Ali Colwell, and Alyxius Torres.

McCormack said she was proud of the event\u2019s turnout. She felt as though the event brought a lot of awareness to International Women\u2019s Day and Women\u2019s History Month as a whole.

Student Engagment has hosted multiple events this month in honor of Women\u2019s History Month. Throughout the week of March 7-11th, the FHSU sororities tabled in the Memorial Union to promote women empowerment. The sororities passed out coloring pages with empowering sayings, handed out stickers to students, and encouraged students to write what makes strong women or who a strong woman is in their life.
