Fort Hays State women’s basketball senior Whitney Randall<\/a> has earned first team CoSIDA Academic All-District honors for the second year in a row, announced Thursday (Feb. 17) by the organization. She is one of six student-athletes from District 7 (MIAA, Northern Sun and Great American) to receive the honor.

A third team CoSIDA Academic All-America selection last season, Randall completed an undergraduate degree in Health & Human Performance in the fall of 2021 with a perfect 4.0 GPA and is currently pursuing a graduate degree. The Alva, Okla. native was the MIAA Women’s Winter Student-Athlete of the Year last season, an award is based on the athletic, academic, and campus\/community service accomplishments of an individual. She is a four-time recipient of the MIAA Academic Excellence Award and received the MIAA Scholar-Athlete Award in 2021.

Randall was a first team All-MIAA selection last year for her performance on the court. This season she is averaging 10.8 points per game alongside 4.6 rebounds and a field-goal percentage of 43.3 percent. Randall has scored 1,291 points in her career at Fort Hays State, 11th-most in program history. She has scored in double figures 13 times this season and 60 times in her career.

Sports Information and Athletic Communication professionals within District 7 vote on the Academic All-District Team, which honors a combination of academic and athletic accomplishments of the individuals selected. As an All-District Selection, Randall will now be considered for Academic All-America honors, which will be announced next month.
