Below is the text of the Executive Report SGA President Chris Roberts gave at the final meeting of the Fort Hays State Student Government\u00a0Association, announcing his decision to go on\u00a0indefinite\u00a0leave.<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Over this past week I have had time to contemplate the\u00a0future direction of SGA, and also my personal life. You\u00a0are all aware of the events that have occurred over the\u00a0past weeks, and I apologize for any unintentional\u00a0attention that I have brought to the association. The\u00a0decisions I make in my personal life are my own.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, my attorney has advised me to not to\u00a0discuss details or else he will not be able to continue\u00a0representing me.\u00a0The ultimate goal for attending a University is to earn a\u00a0degree. I have had to weigh whether the distractions\u00a0have had a negative impact on this goal.<\/p>\n

After much thought, I have decided the best option\u00a0moving forward for myself, SGA, and the students, is to\u00a0remain in office. However, to take the necessary steps to\u00a0insure the personal well-being is up to par to continue as\u00a0president I will be taking an indefinite leave of absence at\u00a0the beginning my next term until the fall semester. In the\u00a0fall, I will meet with Vice President elect Powers and the\u00a0interim executive staff to determine if I am fit to resume\u00a0my administrative duties.<\/p>\n

Due to my personal matters, I have taken it upon myself\u00a0to utilize the Kelly Center for an evaluation to determine\u00a0my next steps to ensure my personal well-being. The\u00a0Kelly Center is an excellent resource for any student\u00a0facing challenges in their academic and personal lives.<\/p>\n

This decision comes after much discussion with students\u00a0and senate members. The over-all feel from the students\u00a0is one of understanding that I am a student first. As\u00a0students, we are all still learning. Part of this process is\u00a0realizing when you need to take a step back and fully\u00a0analyze the situation. Resignation would be a decision\u00a0that is too hasty at this time. I intend to let the necessary\u00a0disciplinary procedures to play out.<\/p>\n
