The symposium, sponsored by FHSU\u2019s College of Education, will run from 8:15 a.m. to 1 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\ntheme of this symposium for area K-12 educators is \u201cCreating Connected\nClassrooms.\u201d Three areas of focus will be 1) How do we connect with the most\n\u201cconnected\u201d generation of all time?; 2) How do you help young people learn in\nthe ways they are built to learn?; and 3) How do we stay upright and thriving\nas educators during this challenging period of time?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The featured speaker will be Dayton\nGalyon, a long-time college basketball and golf coach who now is the director\nof the men\u2019s and women\u2019s golf programs at Friends University in Wichita. Each year he works with audiences around the country, helping educators understand and\ncreate avenues to connect with this generation. The workshop he will present at\nthe symposium is called \u201cBridging the Gap.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nsymposium is free and open to the public. His son, Dr. Kenton Olliff \u2013 a long-time\nemployee of FHSU \u2013 had worked with his dad for several years before going into\nteaching.\n\nTo\nensure the symposium would be offered every year, Kenton committed in 2019 to\nfinancially support this important event along with his mother; his wife, Carol\nSolko-Olliff; and the Olliff family.
