{"id":62576,"date":"2021-12-15T09:32:29","date_gmt":"2021-12-15T15:32:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tigermedianet.com\/?p=62576"},"modified":"2021-12-15T09:32:31","modified_gmt":"2021-12-15T15:32:31","slug":"fhsu-selects-new-vp-of-administration-and-finance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tigermedianet.com\/?p=62576","title":{"rendered":"FHSU selects new VP of Administration and Finance"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>By UNIVESITY RELATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fort Hays State University President Tisa Mason announced today the appointment of Wesley Wintch as vice president of Administration and Finance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wintch brings more than two decades of higher education,\nteaching, and financial leadership experience to FHSU, having spent the last\nsix years at Valley City State University (N.D.) as vice president for Business\nAffairs. He served briefly under Mason when she was president of VCSU.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wintch succeeds Michael Barnett, who will retire after more than\n17 years in the role at FHSU. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI know Wesley as a principled, skilled, and hardworking\nprofessional, who will bring integrity, thoughtfulness and extensive senior\nleadership experience to this position,\u201d Mason said. \u201cHe will be an incredible\nasset to our senior leadership team.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As FHSU\u2019s VP for Administration and Finance, Wintch will oversee\nthe university\u2019s administrative functions and key operational areas, including\nfinancial management, facilities planning, physical plant oversight,\naccounting, business services, purchasing, human resources, University Police,\ncash management, and auxiliary budgets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additionally, Wintch will serve as a member of FHSU\u2019s Executive\nLeadership Team, Senior Leadership Team, and the President\u2019s Cabinet. He will\nhelp develop strategies to leverage institutional resources, ensuring alignment\nwith academic priorities, and providing leadership for university-wide\nstrategic planning in support of the institutional mission and priorities.\nWintch\u2019s start date will be Feb. 7, 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI am very excited to join the Fort Hays State University\ncommunity,\u201d Wintch said. \u201cDuring my recent time on campus, I was impressed with\nmany things, especially with the people I met. The warmth they directed toward\nme and the commitment I saw to the university\u2019s mission was remarkable. While I\nwill miss my colleagues and friends at Valley City State University, I am\nlooking forward to joining the team at FHSU, learning and working hard together\nto advance the university.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In his role as vice president for Business Affairs at Valley\nCity State, Wintch and the division he was responsible for university finance,\nbudgeting, strategic planning, operations management, data analysis,\nsafety\/risk management, capital planning, and capital projects oversight, human\nresources management, and personnel training and development with a proven\ntrack record of increasing profits and cutting expenses.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prior to VCSU, Wintch held leadership roles in higher education\nand in the private sector, including service as the Human Resource Director and\nController at Avalon Hills Health Care, as an HR consultant and payroll accountant\nfor Practical People Services, as the senior accountant for TJ Development. He\nalso held a professorship in business at Brigham Young University and worked as\na foreign market manager for Neways International. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wintch has served as a volunteer with the Boy Scouts of America\nand as a youth basketball coach. He also serves as a bishop in the Church of\nJesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and has played piano for various community\nfunctions such as the Lions Club, Festival of Lights, and the rodeo parade.\n\nWintch earned a Bachelor of\nArts in Russian and a Bachelor of Science in Economics, both with honors, from\nthe University of Utah and a Master of Business Administration from Brigham\nYoung University.\n\n\n\n<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By UNIVESITY RELATIONS Fort Hays State University President Tisa Mason announced today the appointment of Wesley Wintch as vice president of Administration and Finance.
