The nationally-ranked massage therapy program at Fort Hays State University offers numerous opportunities for students, whether they\u2019re just starting school or coming back to continue their education. And, the program has now relocated to the lower floor of the Memorial Union in Room 045. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe opportunity\nto have a permanent space for the massage therapy program is super exciting on\nmany levels,\u201d said Ceena Owens, director of massage therapy at FHSU. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe will have a\n\u2018real\u2019 classroom to use for recruiting purposes and tours for students in an\namazing hands-on setting,\u201d Owens said. \u201cHaving a permanent classroom space will\nallow the program to possibly start integrating with other FHSU programs \u2013 such\nas the spa facility and destination management course within the tourism and\nhospitality degree program in the Department of Applied Business Studies.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

FHSU’s massage therapy program is a member of\nthe Associated Bodywork & Massage Professionals (ABMP) national\norganization and the (AMTA) American Massage Therapy Association. Students can pursue an Associate of\nGeneral Studies with a massage therapy emphasis, a Bachelor of Science in\nhealth studies with an emphasis in massage therapy or a certificate in massage\ntherapy. The certificate in the massage therapy program is flexible \u2013 it\u2019s\noffered in a hybrid, online\/on-campus format and can be completed in just two\nsemesters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The FHSU massage\ntherapy program offers student massage clinics for $30 for one-hour\nappointments. Clients can choose from Swedish strokes, deep tissue\nmodalities, Chinese cupping, hot stones, therapeutic stretching, and various\nmassage tools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
