The FHSU Women’s Soccer team picked up their first conference win on Sunday (Oct. 3) by a count of 2-0 against Newman University. The Tigers scored midway through the first half and added another goal in the second to seal their victory. The Tigers improved to 4-3-3 (1-2 MIAA), while the Jets remain winless at 0-7-1 (0-3 MIAA).

The first goal for the Tigers was scored by Amanda Rapudski as she received a pass from Gracen Chaney<\/a> and made a move on the defender to create some open space to put the ball past the keeper in the 35th<\/sup> minute, her third goal of the season. At halftime the Tigers led 1-0. The Tigers took another shot to the net as Zariah Smith<\/a> put the ball inside the box for Sullivan Kelly<\/a>, who shuffled the ball to Jersey Garoutte<\/a> to chip it in for her first goal of the season. The Tiger defense posted their fifth clean sheet of the season as keeper Deonna Wellbrock<\/a> added three saves on the day. The Tigers have shut out their opponents in all four wins this season.

The Tigers will be back in action at home this week when they take on Missouri Western at 6 pm on Friday (Oct. 8) and Northwest Missouri State at 1 pm on Sunday (Oct. 10). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Friday<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\nFHSU women’s soccer team fell to Central Oklahoma on Friday (Oct. 1) by a score\nof 2-1. Two first half goals, including one with just over a minute remaining\nto break a 1-1 tie, pushed the Bronchos to victory. UCO improved to 6-2-1 (2-0\nMIAA) and the Tigers are now 3-3-3 (0-2 MIAA).\n\nThe Bronchos got on the board first with a goal\nin the 11th<\/sup> minute off of a strike from Monika McGee. The Tigers\nanswered immediately when Jordan\nThompson<\/a> netted her third goal of the season in the 12th<\/sup>\nminute. At the end of the first half, the Bronchos Emily Tincher sent a corner\nkick in the direction of Taryn Kedzior who headed the ball towards the goal.\nThe initial shot was saved by Deonna\nWellbrock<\/a>, but Kedzior was able to put it back with her right\nfoot in the 44th<\/sup> minute. The Bronchos took the 2-1 lead into the\nlocker room and held it through the end of the match.

\nThe Tigers took nine shots compared to 14 by the Bronchos. Wellbrock had seven\nsaves on the day increasing her total to 43 so far this season.\n\n\n\n<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
