{"id":59751,"date":"2021-05-13T08:01:53","date_gmt":"2021-05-13T13:01:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tigermedianet.com\/?p=59751"},"modified":"2021-05-13T08:01:55","modified_gmt":"2021-05-13T13:01:55","slug":"fhsu-barton-community-college-partner-to-make-transfer-process-easier","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tigermedianet.com\/?p=59751","title":{"rendered":"FHSU, Barton Community College partner to make transfer process easier"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>By UNIVERSITY RELATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fort Hays State University and Barton Community College announced today that new curriculum guides are now in place to make the path to a four-year degree easier for transfer students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe\ndevelopment of curriculum guides allows students and their academic advisor to\nfully visualize the academic pathway to both an associate\u2019s degree and\nbachelor\u2019s degree,\u201d said Erica Fisher, director of FHSU\u2019s Transfer &amp;\nMilitary Center. \u201cThe goal is to decrease unneeded courses while also ensuring\nthey are taking the correct prerequisite courses needed to be successful at\nFHSU.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>FHSU and\nBarton Community College, located in Great Bend, developed the new\nundergraduate curriculum guides for bachelor degrees in biology, business\neducation, chemistry, English, environmental geology, fine arts, geology,\ngeography, history, organizational leadership, mathematics, music, philosophy,\nphysics, political science, sociology, tourism &amp; hospitality management,\nagricultural business, business administration, computer science, education,\nhealth and human performance, nursing (R.N. to B.S.N.), psychology, social\nwork, and technology leadership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThrough partnership,\ninstitutions of higher education coordinate programs of study resulting in a\nroadmap that supports a student\u2019s completion of their associate degree and\nsuccessful transfer to complete their bachelor\u2019s degree. Partnering with Fort\nHays State University is a good choice for the right reasons \u2013 student\nlearning!\u201d said Elaine Simmons, Vice-President of Instruction Services at\nBarton Community College.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fort Hays\nState created the Transfer &amp; Military Center in the summer of 2020 to\ndeliver enhanced and more personalized services to support two growing\nnon-traditional college student populations. The center\u2019s extensive and ongoing\nwork in the area of curriculum guide development focuses on making the\ntransition to FHSU more seamless. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOur\nlives continue to get busier and busier. A primary goal of the Transfer &amp;\nMilitary Center is to remove confusion by creating these seamless pathways so\nstudents know exactly what they need to achieve their educational goals,\u201d said\nDr. Dennis King, Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fort Hays State University has articulation agreements with many regionally accredited institutions of higher education and Kansas two-year colleges.
