Fort Hays State Tennis fell to 18th<\/sup> ranked Washburn University on Sunday (Apr. 18) at the FHSU Tennis Courts by a score of 6-1. Kylie Aufdengarten<\/a> scored a team point for the Tigers by winning her singles match in straight sets, but the No. 2 ranked team in the Central Region swept doubles play and won the five other singles matches.

Aufdengarten defeated Sydnee Foster at the No. 6 singles position by set scores of 6-0 and 6-2. She was the first Tiger to finish at match in singles play, so she leveled the team scores at 1-1 after Washburn earned the team point in doubles play.

The Tigers battled, but could not find any other team points in singles action as Washburn pulled away. Grace Holgerson<\/a> won five games within her match at the No. 4 position, falling 6-3, 6-2. Stefany Stemmer<\/a> put up a big fight in the first set with Marta Torres at the No. 1 position, dropping her match 7-5, 6-0. Aliyah Frederick<\/a> took three games within her match at the No. 5 position, and Sydney McAdoo<\/a> took a pair of games within her match at the No. 3 position.

In doubles play, Frederick and Aufdengarten played the closest match, falling 6-2 at the No. 3 position.

The Tigers will go on the road next week for their final two MIAA matches, facing Newman Saturday (Apr. 24) and Emporia State Sunday (Apr. 25). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFort Hays State Tennis dropped an MIAA match\nwith Northwest Missouri State in Hays on Saturday by a score of 7-0. The Tigers\nare now 3-5 overall on the season. Northwest Missouri State, the ninth-ranked\nteam in the region, moved to 10-4 on the season.

\nThe Bearcats scored the first team point by sweeping doubles play. The No. 1\nteam of Stefany\nStemmer<\/a> and Sydney\nMcAdoo<\/a> managed to take three games off their opponent, while\nthe No. 2 team of Grace\nHolgerson<\/a> and Fiorella\nMendez<\/a> and No. 3 team of Aliyah\nFrederick<\/a> and Kylie\nAufdengarten<\/a> each took one game in their matches.

\nMcAdoo (No. 3) and Aufdengarten (No. 6) generated the most games won among\nsingles matches, each with two. McAdoo won two in her first set, and\nAufdengarten took a pair in her second set.\n\n\n\n<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
