{"id":57726,"date":"2020-12-09T08:01:04","date_gmt":"2020-12-09T14:01:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tigermedianet.com\/?p=57726"},"modified":"2020-12-09T08:01:06","modified_gmt":"2020-12-09T14:01:06","slug":"fhsu-to-reinstate-successful-student-care-team-program-next-spring","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tigermedianet.com\/?p=57726","title":{"rendered":"FHSU to reinstate successful student Care Team program next spring"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>By UNIVERSITY RELATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The onset of the global COVID-19 pandemic last spring led to a rapid move to remote operations on the Fort Hays State University campus. In an effort to assist students through the challenging transition, the Division of Student Affairs launched a comprehensive effort to ensure students stayed connected to vital advising and student services resources during the opening stages of the pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The division recruited\nmore than 100 faculty, staff and students and organized them into 15 distinctive\nCare Teams, each assigned a specific student group to work with ranging from\nfirst-year, on-campus freshmen to FHSU Online all over the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Those involved in this\ninnovative and ambitious seven-week virtual student service program reached out\nto more than 10,300 students to check on their status and to help them deal\nwith the myriad challenges they faced adjusting to FHSU\u2019s move to remote and\nonline operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Care Team initiative\nwas a way to provide wrap-around support and ensure we extended our hand to\nevery one of our students,\u201d said Dr. Taylor Kriley, assistant vice president\nfor Student Affairs. \u201cThis initiative was a true testament to how Tigers care\nfor one another.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The tremendous success of\nthe initiative led to FHSU\u2019s decision to turn a Care Team program that was\ncreated in response to a looming crisis into a permanent element in the\nuniversity\u2019s student success programming. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Recruitment of faculty,\nstaff and students to serve as Care Teams members for the spring semester is\nalready under way, as is the effort to connect with students who will benefit\ndirectly from the enhanced and personal student support provided by the Care\nTeam program.
