{"id":56531,"date":"2020-10-06T11:06:40","date_gmt":"2020-10-06T16:06:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tigermedianet.com\/?p=56531"},"modified":"2020-10-06T11:06:42","modified_gmt":"2020-10-06T16:06:42","slug":"fhsus-werth-college-of-science-technology-and-mathematics-scholarship-recipients-announced","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tigermedianet.com\/?p=56531","title":{"rendered":"FHSU\u2019s Werth College of Science, Technology and Mathematics scholarship recipients announced"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>By UNIVERSITY RELATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Werth College of Science, Technology and Mathematics at Fort Hays State University has selected several outstanding students as the recipients of the Peter Werth Endowed ST&amp;M, Munsell, and College of Science, Technology and Mathematics Scholarships for the 2020-2021 academic year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nscholarships are for any Werth College of Science, Technology and Mathematics\nstudent exemplifying academic excellence and a desire to serve FHSU. Recipients\nare listed alphabetically by last name.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Peter Werth\nST&amp;M Scholarship recipients:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Brenda\nAguirre-Apodaca <\/strong>&#8211;\n$2,000. Aguirre-Apodaca is a biology major from Scott City, specializing in the\npre-medicine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis\nscholarship has allowed me to continue pursuing my dream of one day becoming a\ndoctor,\u201d Aguirre-Apodaca said. \u201cI will always be so thankful for being a\nrecipient of the Werth College of Science, Technology and Mathematics\nScholarship.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Alexi Beach<\/strong> &#8211; $750. Beach is a biology major from\nPhillipsburg, specializing in botany.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Mark Faber<\/strong> &#8211; $1,000. Faber is a biology major from\nColby, specializing in the pre-medicine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Elijah\nGardner Woods <\/strong>&#8211; $2,000.\nGardner Woods is a geosciences major from Livingston, Texas, specializing in\ngeography.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI am very\ngrateful for this scholarship,\u201d Gardner Woods said. \u201cI have four siblings.\nCurrently, there are two of us in college and one more to start next year. I\nwas concerned that I would have to get a job and take fewer classes to help my\nparents pay for my tuition. This scholarship allows me to spend more time\nstudying. I really enjoy geoscience. I hope to contribute greatly to the field\nin my future career.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Pedro\nOrdonez III <\/strong>&#8211; $1,000.\nOrdonez is a computer science major from Hugoton.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSuccess isn\u2019t\nalways about \u2018greatness,\u2019 it\u2019s about consistency,\u201d Ordonez III said.\n\u201cConsistent, hard work gains success.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Ethan Rohr<\/strong> &#8211; $500. Rohr is a physics major from\nHays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Tate Schmidt<\/strong> &#8211; $1,000. Schmidt is a mathematics\nmajor from Hastings, Nebraska.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Noah\nStauffer<\/strong> &#8211; $1,500.\nStauffer is a computer science major from Marion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Munsell\nScholarship recipients:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Colby\nDreiling<\/strong> &#8211; $2,500.\nDreiling is a physics major from Hays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAs a Werth\nCollege of Science, Technology, and Mathematics Scholarship recipient, I look\nforward to the numerous opportunities I have been enabled to experience and am\nextremely grateful for everything that has been done for me,\u201d Dreiling said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Julien Illo<\/strong> &#8211; $2,500. Illo is a physics major from\nGrainfield.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cReceiving the\nWerth College of Science Scholarship, or any scholarship for that matter, helps\nmotivate me to do my best,\u201d Illo said. \u201cThe fact that I have support pushes me\nto keep persevering through any challenges I face.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Geoffrey\nSoneson<\/strong> &#8211; $2,500.\nSoneson is a physics major from Ellsworth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThank you to\nthe donors for this award, and my professors, for putting me in a position to\nbetter myself,\u201d Soneson said. \u201cYour generosity and helpfulness are very\nappreciated!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>College of\nScience, Technology and Mathematics Scholarship recipient:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Cody Bourbon<\/strong> &#8211; $1,000.
