On July 15, 2020, the Department of Leadership Studies received two honorable awards at this year\u2019s Association of Leadership Educators (ALE) Virtual Conference. ALE is a volunteer organization that promotes educational initiatives designed to support people, organizations, and communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jeni McRay, Donnette Noble, and\nHaley Jones were presented with the Outstanding Poster Award for their work\non Civic Investment in\nthe 21st Century America: A Call to Action<\/em>. The poster will be on\ndisplay outside their department (on the second floor in Rarick Hall) during\nthe fall semester.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, The Voss Advanced\nLeadership Undergraduate Program (VALUE) was awarded the Outstanding Leadership\nProgram Award. The Department of Leadership Studies congratulates Jill\nArensdorf, Justin Greenleaf, Kaley Klaus, and many others who have worked\ndiligently to make this program a success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The VALUE Program is designed to\ndevelop the most promising undergraduates into powerful agents for good,\nfollowing their educational experience at Fort Hays State University. This\nprogram is available to any on-campus or virtual major who is interested in\npracticing their leadership skills through a year-long class, leadership\nconference, and an individualized project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Caden Frank, a senior majoring in\norganizational leadership, was an active member of the VALUE program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI loved being part of the VALUE\nprogram! The class is very engaging, and you make great friends with your\nclassmates. We got to go to a leadership conference in Wichita, and our\nprojects ended up being great learning experiences despite having COVID interrupt\nthem,\u201d said Frank.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt\u2019s helped me explore what\nmatters most to me in life honestly and helped me find what careers I want to\nexplore where I know I can succeed and make a difference in other people\u2019s\nlives at the same time.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
