FHSU\u2019s Muslim Student Association met for the first time on Tuesday evening, March 10. Bader Abukhodair and Katie Abukhodair, the coordinators for the association, said the goal of this first meeting was to elect positions and determine new member responsibilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Currently, Badar and Katie are working on reaching out to more students who may be interested in being involved with the organization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSo far, we plan on doing some cultural things at local events,\u201d Katie Abukhodair said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Badar, the first meeting was successful even though there is still work to be done.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe\u2019re still figuring out the details,\u201d Bader Abukhodair said. \u201cWe might adjust the time we have meetings, and we are working on planning future events.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sabaha Hassen, who was elected vice-president of the Muslim Student Association, said students wanting to join the organization can find information about meetings on TigerLink.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAll of the information on there will be updated regularly,\u201d Hassen said. \u201cSo anything you need to know about times and locations of meetings or events we may be doing can be found on there.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The tentative activities for the group include tabling at the Union, a Hijab try-on event, an Islam awareness event, a Henna night, and an \u201cAsk a Muslim\u201d meeting for individuals interested in learning more about the organization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Yabinta Darbo was elected president of the club.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe\u2019re planning on doing more events that make people want to be involved,\u201d Darbo said. \u201cWe\u2019d love for more students to become interested in our organization and possibly join.\u201d
