PITTSBURG, Kan. – Fort Hays State track and field senior Peri Lange<\/a> tallied 3,364 points in the pentathlon Friday (Feb. 28) on day one of the 2020 MIAA Indoor Championships, well over the NCAA Division II provisional mark of 3,277.

After finishing in the top six in three of the five events, Lange placed seventh in the overall competition, giving the Tigers two early team points.

It was the top mark in the pentathlon for a Tiger since 2010 (Carissa Heim, 3,450). Three of her five marks rank in the top five for a Tiger in the indoor pentathlon during the program’s NCAA era.

Mattie Rossi<\/a> nearly gave the Tigers a pair of provisional performers, finishing 10th with a total of 3,246 points. The sophomore ran the third-fastest 800m on the day, crossing the line in 2:27.26.

Rylee Gleason<\/a> and Taylor Savolt<\/a> both set personal-bests in the pentathlon Friday, with Gleason placing 16th with 3,061 points and Savolt right behind in 17th with 3,041 points.

Jack Pakkebier<\/a> wrapped up the first four events of the men’s heptathlon with 2,261 points, sitting in 14th with three events to go.

Pakkebier will complete the heptathlon Saturday morning (Feb. 29), with the rest of the Tiger squad joining in later in the afternoon. Field events get underway at 1:30 p.m. before prelims on the track begin at 2 p.m.
