{"id":51357,"date":"2019-11-21T15:21:28","date_gmt":"2019-11-21T21:21:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tigermedianet.com\/?p=51357"},"modified":"2019-11-21T15:21:30","modified_gmt":"2019-11-21T21:21:30","slug":"tigers-fall-to-uindy-in-tourney-opener","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tigermedianet.com\/?p=51357","title":{"rendered":"Tigers fall to UIndy in tourney opener"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>By FHSU SPORTS INFORMATION<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>GENEVA, Ohio &#8211; No. 8-seeded Fort Hays State men&#8217;s soccer faced off against the No. 9 University of Indianapolis in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, which saw the Greyhounds prevail in 90 minutes, 3-2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>FHSU&#8217;s appearance in the match solidifies their streak as the longest\nconsecutive participant in the NCAA postseason &#8211; notching eight straight years<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Tigers swiftly collected their first goal of the contest. Senior forward\n<a href=\"https:\/\/linkprotect.cudasvc.com\/url?a=http%3a%2f%2ffhsuathletics.com%2fservices%2fgo.ashx%2f9e9a22ea-b42d-4be6-a9a8-df9eb2537eae%3felinkdata%3d140719&amp;c=E,1,gL4GrTP-2TMMmjONrHy7Jcu4Cvxiz4tGPLJK2O3PN_HJtCnDEbn4fVQIiNMsjxHJUY4qwNJ12ctsMhNG4VT9Qv9swTXZ8r4tFvxCyDXQ&amp;typo=1\">Santiago\nAgudelo<\/a> created a breakaway on a ball that was misplayed by a\nGreyhounds defender. With defenders nearing and goalkeeper Miles Palmer\nsprinting off of his line, the striker chipped the ball, hitting the underside\nof the bar off of a bounce and falling over the line for a 1-0 lead. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>FHSU was able to collect another tally in the 21st minute. Just before the\nhalfway line, junior midfielder <a href=\"https:\/\/linkprotect.cudasvc.com\/url?a=http%3a%2f%2ffhsuathletics.com%2fservices%2fgo.ashx%2f5acdf4e9-8402-40d7-ba3c-63cd3cba286f%3felinkdata%3d140719&amp;c=E,1,CcY0EyTvvcmYvnz-06g_5rujQvldyP0QVwPmu8uAhNURDrlERZ3IvrVDkmAWI10a_Sslt2OUF3CW1BQe25t75M0rlc6lm_QCGhwvqfxbs2EDB9SPF-gS&amp;typo=1\">Ross\nBoyd<\/a> intercepted a pass and sent a through ball over the top\nof the UIndy defense. As the ball hit the ground, it found the feet of a\nsprinting Agudelo who, once again, chipped Palmer who had jumped off of his\nline. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Up 2-0, the Tigers continued to stand tall at the back line, but the\nrelentless pressure from the Greyhounds managed to snag their first goal under\na minute after the Black and Gold&#8217;s second. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Javier Steinwascher played a cross towards the near post finding the head of\nBryan Moreira, who slotted a ball into the top-left corner of the goal, beating\ngoalkeeper <a href=\"https:\/\/linkprotect.cudasvc.com\/url?a=http%3a%2f%2ffhsuathletics.com%2fservices%2fgo.ashx%2ff900b223-d132-43cd-b9f8-9d2a156d8333%3felinkdata%3d140719&amp;c=E,1,uFpak6sU_KtF_5F0JCneGCllz0VPEpXocigJWi6yE-UImX4Id5-7VwIvQWjGUGfAcjhdxXtct_fTZZEXPKkfmiqct913JylD_Mb8ZWCDjsMU3g9HdcE14dFjYwY,&amp;typo=1\">Cullen\nFisch<\/a> to the post.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Under two minutes later, UIndy was able to bring the match back level. At\nthe top of the 18-yard box, Ben Rohder was sent a pass from Mathias Skjeseth.\nRohder, requiring only one touch, bent a shot with the inside of his foot to\nthe far post. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Heading into halftime, the two sides presented an even draw. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Indianapolis was able to strike again in the 62nd minute, when Steinwascher\nentered the scoring column on a header, assisted by Jakub Olczyk. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As the clock continued to dwindle down, the Black and Gold persisted with\naggression on the offensive end.
