The Tigers beat the Adams State Grizzlies last night 79-39 pushing their record to 3-0 and were looking to keep up their winning ways as they played against the Aggies of Cameron University Saturday. FHSU won convincingly, 89-47.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\t\u201cWe always want to focus on attitude and effort because those are the two things that we can control,\u201d Senior guard Kacey Kennet (23) said. \u201cYesterday we came out kind of slow, so today we wanted to come out and bring that upbeat intensity and win the game.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kennett scored 14 first-half points and ended the night with 16.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThey were full-court pressing us and once we broke their press we were getting real deep and then just dumping to Belle for a layup,\u201d Head Coach Tony Hobson said. \u201cOur guards did a super job of breaking that pressure and then getting it to the open man.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Barbieri led FHSU with 19 points and 10 rebounds on her way to a fourth straight double-double<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\tFort Hays fought hard as they were playing the Aggies tonight, and held them 27-20 in the first quarter. The Tigers stayed on top to finish out the half 46-31. FHSU only allowed four points for Cameron\u2019s offense in the third quarter pushing the score to 71-35. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the final quarter of the evening, Hobson used this winning opportunity to play his younger, less experienced players and give them some time on the court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI think it can\u2019t do anything but help you because they\u2019re getting a lot of minutes, and that will help us coming down the stretch of the season,\u201d Hobson said. \u201cThey\u2019ll be much more ready to go into a game, and be a lot less nervous about things.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\tCoach Hobson is in his 12th season with the Tigers and is looking to build off of his 32-2 record from the 2018-2019 season. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\tThe Tigers are now 4-0 and back in Hays at Gross Memorial Coliseum against the University of Saint Mary on November 25. Tip-off is at 6 p.m. against the Spires.
