\tThe SWIPE Out Hunger event, hosted by the Global Leadership Project in partnership with Numana, is happening this Saturday, October 19th at Forsyth Library from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The events goal is to help feed the hungry through creating food packages to ship to those in need. TMN recently had the opportunity to speak with Student Coordinator of the Global leadership Project Alex Kultgen about the event and its development. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
John Carter JR (JCJ)- <\/strong>What was the planning for this event like?<\/p>\n\n\n\n Alex Kultgen (AK)-<\/strong> Planning for SWIPE is equal parts chaos and equal parts fun. I love being able to tell people about SWIPE and hear students say they either want to participate or have in the past and have loved it. While recruiting over 140 volunteers can be extremely challenging, it\u2019s all worth it come the day of SWIPE.<\/p>\n\n\n\n JCJ-<\/strong> What are the purposes and goals of the event?<\/p>\n\n\n\n AK- <\/strong>The purpose of the event is to make a difference by feeding the hungry. Numana has a saying, \u201cGive food. Give hope.\u201d And that truly is what SWIPE does, we are able to make a direct impact in someone else\u2019s life by packaging these meals. This year our goal is 30,000 meals and these meals will be sent to El Salvador.<\/p>\n\n\n\n JCJ- <\/strong>Who is your organization wanting to impact in this event?<\/p>\n\n\n\n AK- <\/strong>The Global Leadership Project is wanting to impact those who are going hungry by serving them and our FHSU students by teaching them to be more empathetic and understanding of the world around them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n JCJ-<\/strong> If anyone would like to be involved what should they do?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
