{"id":49451,"date":"2019-10-14T10:14:59","date_gmt":"2019-10-14T15:14:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tigermedianet.com\/?p=49451"},"modified":"2019-10-14T10:15:00","modified_gmt":"2019-10-14T15:15:00","slug":"%ef%bb%bffhsu-department-of-music-and-theatre-presents-daniel-bukvich-in-next-new-music-festival-concert","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tigermedianet.com\/?p=49451","title":{"rendered":"\ufeffFHSU Department of Music and Theatre presents Daniel Bukvich in next New Music Festival concert"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>By UNIVERSITY RELATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Department of Music and Theatre at Fort Hays State University will present the New Music Festival: An Evening of the Music of Daniel Bukvich at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 2, in the Beach\/Schmidt Performing Arts Center. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bukvich,\nprofessor of music theory at the University of Idaho\u2019s Lionel Hampton School of\nMusic, travels across the world as a guest composer, conductor and\npercussionist in concerts with professional, college, high school and grade\nschool bands, orchestras, choirs, honor and all-state groups. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As part of the\nNew Music Festival, Bukvich will give a lecture at 2:30 p.m., Friday, Nov. 1,\nin Malloy Hall Room 115. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The lecture is\nfree and open to the public. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The evening\nconcert will feature the world premiere of \u201cLost Chord Mysticanza,\u201dcommissioned\nby the Fort Hays State New Music Ensemble, an ensemble of FHSU faculty with a\nshared passion for the music of living composers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Members slated\nto perform \u201cLost Chord Mysticanza\u201d are Brian Buckstead, violin; Irena\nRavitskaya, piano; Hilary Shepard, flute; Kristin Pisano, clarinet; James\nPisano, alto saxophone\/bass clarinet; Brandon Jones, percussion; and Terry\nCrull, narration and singing voice. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Other works in\nthe program: \u201cFour Phases from Psalm 91,\u201d performed by the FHSU Smoky Hill\nChorale with Kay Werth, English horn, under the direction of Crull; and \u201cFive\nFantasies on the Tones A and G\u201d for brass quintet. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOne aim of\nthe annual FHSU New Music Festival is to engage, educate and inform our\ncommunity about new music,\u201d Pisano said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Admission is\nfree.
