DENVER, Colo. – The Fort Hays State University Tigers faced off against the Regis University Rangers on Sunday afternoon. The Tigers entered into the matchup on a two-game skid and that form continues as the match resulted in a 3-0 loss. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fort Hays State found themselves behind early in the match. Just one minute\ninto the contest, Regis’ Ben Shepherd slid a ball past goalkeeper Cullen\nFisch<\/a> to begin the score tally. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

With only five minutes remaining in the first half, the Rangers struck\nagain. Parker Klein ripped his shot to Fisch’s left-hand side for a 2-0 lead. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following halftime, the Rangers marched down the field. Defending inside of\ntheir own 18-yard box, the Tigers were backed into an uncomfortable position. Mariano\nBenitez<\/a> made contact within the box and was called for a foul.\nShepherd stepped up to the spot for the Rangers and tucked his shot away to\nmark the third goal of the contest. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fort Hays State took 10 shots through the duration of the match. Goalkeeper Cullen\nFisch<\/a> was kept busy in net as he faced 15 shots and made six\nsaves. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Within the 90 minutes, six yellow cards were handed out. The Tigers’ Santiago\nAgudelo<\/a>, Alec\nBevis<\/a>, and Alonso\nRodriguez<\/a> all claimed bookings. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the Tigers, this marks their second worst start to a regular season in\nprogram history, with 2017 being the only one to top this in those ranks.\nConcluding that campaign, Fort Hays State finished 11-5-2 under coach Brett\nParker, who led his team to a national semifinal appearance in the ensuing\nseason. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The black and gold were knocked out of the NCAA Championship tournament in\n2017 by Northeastern State University. On Thursday, Sept. 19 that’s who the\nTigers will be squaring off with for their next game of the season. The Tigers\nare 9-7-5, all-time against Northeastern State.\n\nThis will be FHSU’s first game played in Hays\nsince their victory over Rockhurst in the season-opener and their first game in\nGreat American Conference play.
