PUEBLO, Colo. – Fort Hays State played three matches over the weekend (Sept. 13-14) against Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference opponents in Colorado. After falling in their first two of the weekend against MSU-Denver and Colorado Mesa, the Tigers bounced back for a win in the finale against CSU-Pueblo. Fort Hays State is now 2-2 overall on the season.

Metro State University-Denver 5, Fort Hays State 0<\/strong>
Fort Hays State could not generate any points against MSU-Denver on Friday evening. The Roadrunners swept all three doubles matches and then played out only four of six singles matches to clinch the match 5-0.

The No. 2 doubles team of Macy Moyers<\/a> and Sydney McAdoo<\/a> generated the most game points of any FHSU team, falling 6-4 in their match with Brooklyn Ross and Mackenzie Hotan.

The Roadrunners held all Tigers to two or fewer points in sets in singles play. The Roadrunners claimed straight-set wins at the No. 1, 2, 3, and 5 positions, while the No. 4 and 6 matches were left unfinished due to the Roadrunners clinching the match mathematically.

Colorado Mesa 5, Fort Hays State 0<\/strong>
Fort Hays State was short a player for the dual with Colorado Mesa. It did not factor into the doubles results as Colorado Mesa won the two contested matches to earn a team point. However, the Tigers did give one point away in singles due to the shortage.

The No. 1 doubles team of Natalie Lubbers<\/a> and Ellea Ediger<\/a> and No. 2 doubles team of Grace Holgerson<\/a> and Macy Moyers<\/a> each lost their matches by scores of 6-3.

Two of the singles matches did not finish since CMU clinched the match with four wins in singles.

Fort Hays State 6, CSU-Pueblo 1<\/strong>
Despite being a player short on the day, Fort Hays State won all of its matches contested against CSU-Pueblo. The Tigers surrendered only one point via the forfeit in singles play.

The No. 1 doubles team of Lubbers and Ediger defeated Kali Hamilton and Sarah Megilligan 6-1, while the No. 2 doubles team of Macy Moyers<\/a> and Grace Holgerson<\/a> defeated Emily Sporston and Tilly Blasdale 6-3. That secured one team point for FHSU for winning at least two of three doubles matches, even though FHSU would not have fielded a No. 3 team with the shortage.

The Tigers blitzed through their singles matches, with only one match seeing a CSU-Pueblo player reach three points in a set. At No. 1, Lubbers defeated Hamilton 6-1, 6-2. At No. 2, Moyers defeated Megilligan 6-0, 6-1. At No. 3, Ediger defeated Sporston 6-1, 6-0. At No. 4, Stone defeated Alyssa Wells 6-0, 6-3. At No. 5, Holgerson defeated Roma Cordova 6-1, 6-1. Marissa Sena generated the only team point for CSU-Pueblo by forfeit since the Tigers did not counter with a player at No. 6.

Fort Hays State returns to action at home this coming week. The Tigers take on Sterling College on Tuesday (Sept. 17) then also host Barton Community College in a scrimmage on Thursday (Sept. 19) at 3 pm. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
