{"id":45724,"date":"2019-05-15T13:41:26","date_gmt":"2019-05-15T18:41:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tigermedianet.com\/?p=45724"},"modified":"2019-05-15T13:41:31","modified_gmt":"2019-05-15T18:41:31","slug":"%ef%bb%bffhsu-alumni-association-announces-nominees-for-2019s-torch-pilot-lighthouse-awards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tigermedianet.com\/?p=45724","title":{"rendered":"\ufeffFHSU Alumni Association announces nominees for 2019\u2019s Torch, Pilot &amp; Lighthouse Awards"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>By UNIVERSITY RELATIONS<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nominees for three top awards have been announced by the Fort Hays State University Alumni Association. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thirty-five\ngraduating seniors have been nominated for the 2019 Torch Award, the highest\nstudent honor, and 33 faculty were nominated by members of the class of 2019\nfor the Pilot Award for outstanding faculty member. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In\naddition, 12 graduate students who will complete their degrees this spring were\nnominated for the association\u2019s Lighthouse Award to honor the outstanding\nstudent completing graduate studies. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nTorch and Pilot Awards, created in 1974, are presented every year at the\nGraduate and Faculty Dinner in advance of Commencement. The Lighthouse Award\nwas created in 2018. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Torch\nAward and Lighthouse Award candidates are nominated by members of the faculty\non the basis of classroom excellence, participation in professional\norganizations and involvement in student, civic or research activities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pilot\nAward candidates are nominated on the basis of classroom excellence, ongoing\nresearch and service activities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nominees\nfor the Torch Award and the Lighthouse Award are listed alphabetically by\nhometown.
