Education. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe professional\nbenefits of ESD include opportunities for outstanding students to distinguish\nthemselves in the eyes of educators, recruiters and industry executives in an\nincreasingly competitive industry,\u201d said Dr. Stacey Smith, chair of the\nDepartment of Applied Business Studies and assistant professor of tourism and\nhospitality management. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cEducational\nbenefits include opportunities for ESD chapters to provide a stimulus for\nstudents to strive for academic excellence,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are over\n90 active Eta Sigma Delta chapters throughout the world. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe growth is\na testament to the dedication of both students and professionals in hospitality\nand tourism to the pursuit of academic, professional and personal excellence,\u201d\nsaid Smith. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The students\nwho were inducted are listed alphabetically by hometowns. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>BRONX,\nN.Y.:<\/strong>\nSamantha Dorn, sophomore. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>GODDARD:<\/strong> Madison White, senior.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>PUEBLO,\nColo.:<\/strong>\nSabrina Sales, junior. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>RUSSELL:<\/strong> Heather Bitter,\njunior. <strong>SOLOMON:<\/strong> Alexandra Brown, senior\n\n\n\n<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By UNIVERSITY RELATIONS Tourism and hospitality management students at Fort Hays State University were recently inducted into the Eta Sigma Delta Honor Society.
