LINCOLN, Neb. – In its final competition before heading to the MIAA Indoor Conference Championships, the Fort Hays State men’s track and field team took to Lincoln, Neb for the Nebraska Tune-Up. Brett Meyer<\/a>, Malcom Gardner<\/a> and Kolt Newell<\/a> led a strong showing for the Tigers as they claimed provisional marks at the meet.<\/p>\n Meyer completed 800-meters with a top time of 1:52.38 to earn his provisional. Teammate Seppe van ‘t Westende<\/a> also placed well in the 800-meters, coming in sixth place at 1:56.46. Kolt Newell<\/a> earned his provisional mark with a 6 feet, 9 inch performance in the high jump as he placed second. Lucas Broxterman<\/a> finished in the same event in eighth place with a mark of 6 feet, 5 inches.<\/p>\n Alongside the provisionals, multiple other Tigers finished in the top-ten in their respective events. Philip Landrum placed fifth in the 60-meters at 6.99, followed by a seventh place finish from Malcom Gardner<\/a> at 7.04. The two also placed highly in the 200-meters, with Gardner coming in fourth place and earning a provisional at 21.73, and Landrum placing sixth at 21.92.<\/p>\n D’Corian Williams captured a sixth place finish with a time of 1:22.85 in the 600-meters, and Abraham Garcia<\/a> took ninth in the 3,000-meters at 9:00.81. Peter Franklin<\/a> claimed ninth in the 5,000-meters with his navigating time of 15:45.57. In the 60-meter hurdles, Sabino Medrano<\/a> rounded out the top-ten coming in tenth place with a time of 8.83.<\/p>\n Three 4×400 meter relay teams for the Tigers placed in the top-ten, led by a fourth place finish made up of Matthew Pieper<\/a>, Gardner, Meyer and Landrum with a combined time of 3:21.58. The other relay teams claimed sixth and seventh place finishes.<\/p>\n
